The opportunity
A large market with no trust layer.
Africans abroad send tens of billions of dollars home every year, and back even more in shops, rentals, imports, and family businesses. Almost none of it is verifiable. Money is sent on faith and lost to leakage: stock that "disappears", a building "always full" whose owner never sees the cash, a buyer who pays online and never receives.
The gap is not payments, which already work through mobile money. The gap is trust and proof. AghaNwi sits on top of the money rail and makes commerce provable: what was received, what was sold, who handled it, and what really happened on the ground. That is a horizontal need across every informal and semi formal business, which is why one platform can serve many verticals.
The product
Five primitives, eight businesses, one rail.
A single engine powers everything, so each new vertical is a template, not a rebuild:
Escrow
Mobile money and cash held until delivery is confirmed, then released. Cash is logged the moment it changes hands and reconciled per shift.
Proof engine
Photo, GPS, timestamp, and signed receipt on every key action, so an owner abroad sees evidence, not a phone call.
Remote owner dashboard
Received, sold, on hand, and unaccounted, each with a name attached.
Accountable agents
Caretakers, sellers, and riders paid through the platform, with duties segregated and counts scheduled so a shortfall is traceable.
Accounted ledger
Mobile money and cash in one double entry ledger that always balances, the source of truth behind every report.
Eight verticals
Shops, phone and repair, supermarket, diaspora property and management, importers and wholesalers, employers and attendance, a community marketplace, and proof of payment.
Why it wins
The moat is the proof, not the payment.
- Built for how business is actually done at home: works on any phone, offline first, and without barcodes
- One shared engine across eight verticals, so each new business type ships fast and reuses trust, payments, and proof
- Trilingual from day one (English, French, Pidgin), the real languages of the market
- A trust brand, not a checkout: "Verified Shops" and provable delivery are a reason to choose AghaNwi over a generic store or a WhatsApp deal
- A real reference operation already shapes the property vertical, so the product fits a live business, not a guess
How it makes money
Revenue that grows with trust.
Transaction fee
A small percentage on escrowed payments, charged where the platform removes the most risk.
Subscription
Per business tiers for shops, landlords, importers, and employers who want the dashboard, proof, and agent tools.
Verified status
A paid trust badge and placement for shops that pass verification, the discovery layer of the marketplace.
Value added services
Attendance kiosks, payslips, and reporting that attach to the same rail as the operation grows.
Traction and roadmap
Live engine, first shop, public launch ahead.
The core engine, schema, and eight verticals are built, with real mobile money payments, an escrow and dispute flow, and a balancing ledger. The first Verified Shop is KitchenDelights, a premium kitchenware store in Douala, and a live family run property operation informs the management vertical. The web front door is open at aghanwi.com, with the role based app and attendance kiosk deploying continuously. Near term work hardens security and closes the remaining mobile screens ahead of a public launch.
The ask
Let us talk.
We are building the trust and proof layer for commerce across Africa and its diaspora, starting where the pain is sharpest. If you back founders who turn a hard, human problem into infrastructure, we would like to show you the live platform.
